Suicides can be said to be the ultimate
condemnation of our society’s care for the depressed and mentally disturbed. It is believed that every two hours one person tells society that life isn’t worth living. And every three minutes one person
attempts to take his or her own life. In today’s society, suicides are as common as deaths on the road. Depression,
anxiety, personal tragedy and drug abuse are among some of the common reasons why people opt to take their lives. More often than not it is cry that goes
unheeded by society. There are many health professionals that often pass unfair judgements without taking into consideration the distress that leads to such a decision. While suicide is no longer considered criminal, it is seen as an unforgivable
sin in most
religions.
